160422-N-TC720-480 BALTIC SEA (April 22, 2016) - A U.S. Navy P-3 Orion aircraft from Patrol Squadron (VP) 4 comes alongside USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) as part of a U.S.-Sweden bi-lateral naval exercise meant to enhance interoperability between the two nations. Donald Cook, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, forward deployed to Rota, Spain is operating in the Baltic Sea as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve in order to assure allies of our shared commitment and to build interoperability toward peace and stability in the Baltic region. Task Force 67 is composed of land-based maritime patrol aircraft that operate over the waters of the Mediterranean in anti-submarine, reconnaissance, surveillance, and mining roles. Task Force 67′s official mission is to provide responsive, interoperable, and expeditionary combat ready maritime patrol aircraft and supporting forces to Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and Commander, U.S. 6th Fleet (CNE-CNA-C6F), NATO and Unified Commanders to conduct effective Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), maintain Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), enhance regional stability, promote cooperative maritime safety and security, and be decisive while conducting overseas contingency operations.

TG-67.6 was recently activated in Djibouti operating within the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) area of operations; before the changeover of responsibility for the Horn of Africa from United States Central Command to AFRICOM, this task group was a component of the United States Fifth Fleet’s Task Force 57.
