Rota, a small Spanish municipality located along the Bay of Cadiz in the Atlantic Ocean, is home to the largest American military community in Spain, housing U.S. Navy and Marine Corps personnel and military assets.

This visit was the third trip to Rota during the ship’s 2018 deployment. While in port, Arleigh Burke refueled, resupplied, and conducted maintenance and repairs. Sailors also had the opportunity to experience the local Spanish culture.

Arleigh Burke, homeported at Naval Station Norfolk, is conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa.
