USS Mount Whitney Arrives in Thessaloniki, Greece
The Blue Ridge-class command and control ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) arrived in Thessaloniki, Greece, Sept. 10, 2018, for a scheduled port visit.
Strengthening alliances during the port visit to Thessaloniki demonstrates the shared commitment we have to promote security and stability within the region, while seeking opportunities to enhance our relationship with our Hellenic maritime allies.
While in Thessaloniki, Mount Whitney Sailors will be representing the U.S. Navy at the Thessaloniki International Fair.
"It is an honor to represent the U.S. Navy at the Thessaloniki International Fair. The crew and I are excited to see the thriving, historic city and meet its excited and vibrant citizens. This year is a landmark for Hellenic-American relations with many large U.S. corporations attending the Thessaloniki International Fair. This visit will be a great opportunity for us to experience the people, culture and cuisine that is unique to Greece.”
-Capt. George R. Aguilar, commanding officer of Mount Whitney
