USS Porter Exits Black Sea

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) departed the Black Sea Sept. 1, 2017 after conducting maritime security operations and theater security engagements with allies and partners.

USS Porter’s operations in the Black Sea demonstrated the U.S. commitment to collective security with NATO allies and partners in the region.

Quick Facts: 
USS Porter entered the Black Sea Aug. 18, 2017 to demonstrate the U.S. commitment to the collective security of its NATO Allies and partners as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve.
While operating in the Black Sea, USS Porter conducted a port visit in Constanta, Romania Aug. 22, 2017. Cmdr. John Tobin met with Rear Adm. Daniel Capatina, Romanian Fleet Admiral.
The ship’s operations in the Black Sea are meant to enhance maritime security and stability, readiness, and naval capability and capacity with our Allies and partners.
The U.S. Navy routinely operates in the Black Sea consistent with the Montreux Convention and in accordance with international law.
USS Porter, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is on a routine patrol conducting naval operations with allies and partners in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations to advance security and stability in the region.
U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
