Thanks-for-Giving: Service Members Celebrate Naples Region Volunteers

U.S. Naval Forces Europe Band celebrated the devotion of volunteer organizations that support the military community with a ‘Thanks-for-Giving’ concert held at the Italian Air Force Academy in Pozzuoli, Italy, Nov. 15.

U.S. 6th Fleet Commander Visits Naval Partners in Bulgaria and Romania

Vice Adm. Lisa Franchetti, commander, U.S. 6th Fleet and commander, Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO, met with NATO allies and partners during a visit to Varna, Bulgaria, and Constanta, Romania, Aug. 13-15, 2018.

NATO’s advanced Anti-Submarine Warfare Exercise Dynamic Mongoose concludes

NATO’s Submarine Warfare Exercise DYNAMIC MONGOOSE 2018 concluded on July 06, with ships, submarines, aircraft and personnel from 8 Allied nations converging on the North Atlantic Ocean for Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) and Anti-Surface warfare training. Host nation Norway provided support from the Harstad and Narvik Harbors as well as Andoya Air Base.

NATO's Oldest Allies Unite

From July 2 to July 6, aircraft from Carrier Air Wing One (CVW-1), embarked aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), are conducting integrated flight operations with French Naval Aviation aircraft as part of French Air Defense week.

U.S. Navy Transfers RHIBs to Hellenic Navy

U.S. Navy and Hellenic Navy personnel gathered at Marathi NATO piers to commemorate the transfer of four ridged-hulled inflatable boats (RHIB) to the Hellenic Navy based on an Excess Defense Articles (EDA) grant, Oct. 31.

The NATO Kosovo Force: 18 Years Strong

On the heels of peaceful municipal elections promoted by OSCE and safeguarded by NATO, I made my first visit to Kosovo as the newly appointed Commander of Allied Joint Force Command Naples. For 18 years, a U.S. Navy Four Star has commanded JFC Naples, responsible for the Kosovo Force (KFOR), charged with the mission of maintaining security, stability, and peace operations in Kosovo. The hospitality in Pristina was incredible and I appreciated the opportunity to see firsthand what NATO is doing in Kosovo.

Formidable Shield 2017 Concludes with Ship Engaging Supersonic Target

Ships from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States participated in a successful live-fire integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) scenario, defending against a supersonic target Oct. 17, concluding exercise Formidable Shield 2017 (FS17), which began Sept. 24. Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO) conducted Formidable Shield on behalf of the U.S. 6th Fleet.
